How to prepare for your trip to Belize

Belize has done very well in “fighting” the global pandemic of COVID-19. For example a series of new enhanced health and safety protocols have been put in place to protect Belizeans, our communities, and our visitors.

Here is a step guide in what you have to do before you come to Belize and what you can expect during your stay:

Step 1: Starting on October 1, 2020 all guests coming to Belize will have to register for “The Belize Health” App before entering the country. The App is required to be downloaded within 72 hours of your arrival in Belize.  The App will be free and will allow for Belize’s Ministry of Health to check-in with guests throughout their stay. In the event a new case arises while a visitor is on holiday, contact tracing will be much easier and notification of other parties who may have been within your vicinity will be quick and efficient enabling us to #stopthespread as best as possible.

It is recommended that if you do not have a smartphone, that you download the app to a tablet and submit your information within 72 hours of boarding your flight to Belize.

Go to the BTB (Belize Tourism Board) website and download the app.

Step 2: Do a PCR-Test before you arrive. The PCR-Test must be done within 72 hours before arrival in Belize. This test lets you fast track through the arrival procedure. If you don´t do a test prior to arrival, you must take 2 separate tests upon arrival in Belize at your expense. If you are positive, you must quarantine at a designated quarantine hotel at your expense for 14 days.

Step 3: buy masks. Masks must be worn in public at all times.

Step 4: be prepared to social distance in public while in Belize

Step 5: be prepared for temperature checks

Step 6: be prepared to often wash or sanitize your hands
