Arriving by bus?
Its quite a journey (approx. 4 hours from Belize City Bus Terminal) but it is safe and cheap. Expect not much comfort as it is a "chicken bus" you will be sitting in. See it as a cultural introduction to the country.
Where to get off the bus? Once you approach Maya Beach let the bus driver know that you want to get off at Coconut Walk Road, the next road after the supermarket and the police station. You follow the road to the end and you will see our sign “Simberts Apartment”.

Arriving by car?
Renting a car is a great option to come down to Maya Beach. We recommend Crystal Belize.
Driving directions: Exit the International Airport, turn left onto Northern Highway. After 5 miles turn left onto Burrell Boom Cut, after 12 miles, at the roundabout, exit onto Western Highway toward Belmopan (drive via Belmopan, do not turn off before onto the coastal Highway- which is a dirt road). After 40 miles (in Belmopan), turn left onto Hummingbird Highway toward Dangriga/Placencia. After 50 miles, turn right onto Southern Highway toward Placencia, after 25 miles, turn left at roundabout toward Placencia. (there are always signs at the roundabouts or major intersections)
Once on the Peninsula drive through Maya Beach, after about half a mile you will see a supermarket and a police station on your right, take the next road to your right (Coconut Walk Road) and drive to the end.

The drive takes about 3h-3.5h. Drive carefully and try to avoid driving at night especially on the Humming Bird Highway as there are small Villages in between which are not well lid and people tend to be on the road. The Humming Bird Highway was partially repaved last year so it is in better condition, however there are still old stretches with potholes that come unexpected when driving on the new road. Also once you reach the Placencia Peninsula road- be careful after Mile 8 there is a long curve where the road is collapsing- which comes also quite unexpected.

Arriving by shuttle bus?
Taking the shuttle bus from the International Airport is also an option, quick, easy and comfortable. We recommend Belize Shuttle, Discounted Belize Shuttles and Tours or William Shuttle Belize.
